And now Owen is their newest recruit. It's actually a pretty sweet gig, except for one little problem. An ancient entity known as the Cursed One has returned to settle a centuries old vendetta. Should the Cursed One succeed, it means the end of the world, and MHI is the only thing standing in his way. With the clock ticking towards Armageddon, Owen finds himself trapped between legions of undead minions, belligerent federal agents, a cryptic ghost who has taken up residence inside his head, and the cursed family of the woman he loves.

Monster Hunter Vendetta Accountant turned professional monster hunter Owen Zastava Pitt managed to stop the nefarious Old One's invasion plans last year, but as a result made an enemy out of one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Now an evil death cult known as the Church of the Temporary Mortal Condition wants to capture Owen in order to gain the favor of the great Old Ones.

The Condition is led by a fanatical necromancer known as the Shadow Man. The government wants to capture the Shadow Man and has assigned the enigmatic Agent Franks to be Owen's full time bodyguard -- which is a polite way of saying that Owen is monster bait. Fortunately, this bait is armed and very dangerous. Nearly a century ago, Earl was cursed to be werewolf. When Earl receives word that one of his oldest foes, a legendarily vicious werewolf that worked for the KGB, has mysteriously appeared in the remote woods of Michigan , he decides to take care of some unfinished business.

I can't recommend this series highly enough to anyone looking for something that has everything except sex, there's no sex in these books and in my opinion the stories are better for it. I've been binge reading this series since Bean told me about it and I cannot get enough!

Guilty over the loss of two men in Vegas as a direct result of a decision he made, when Owen hears that they may be alive he leaps at the opportunity to save them. There is, however, the small problem of a literal army of monsters standing between MHI and their missing men. So naturally, MHI forms its own army of hunters and goes after them. After a book focusing on Agent Franks, Siege is all about Owen.

He and MHI take center stage in this story. The book almost seemed split into roughly two sections. The first was primarily preparation for the massive rescue operation, and the second was the operation itself. I actually found that I enjoyed the first part better. There were some good character interactions, especially between Owen and his family, and several really fun scenes.

One encounter with an off the books MCB asset and another with a questionable Russian ally were particular highlights for me. A tense sit down between two supernatural factions was another hilarious scene. Once the operation gets underway, things get pretty chaotic. As always with a MHI book, reading this was just plain fun. The sixth book in the series. Spoilers ahead for earlier ones. Especially since it opens with Owen's father revealing the last information to his sons, and collapsing on the floor, and then goes on with the news Owen had gotten, of the trapped survivors in the other world.

Among other things, this involves a hunt, a magical ring, a talk with a ghost who had been the Chosen, a cyclops, a convoy, using an icebreaker in the summer, bribes, a revelation to a bunch of monster hunters, and a lot more. Like the rating says I liked this latest book in the series.

I don't know if it's the fact that all the other books have been awesome, and that my expectations were too high for this book, I just felt like it was just ok. I think this book would be easy for someone to pickup and start reading that has not read any of the other books, but at the same time that was one of the problems I had with the book.

Seemed like everything had to be tied into something that has happened in the series. A different kind of climatic battle, but it does not make this volume any less epic. Each book in this series just gets better and better. Just love the world building with all the action and humor sprinkled throughout.

Monster Hunter International Series

May 06, Skylar Phelps rated it it was amazing. I can tell that Mr. Correia is dragging out this series Fantastic, fun, and friggin awesome. I love MHI, and was really excited to read Siege since it purported to really raise the stakes. Siege was enjoyable, but it wasn't as good as the other books in the series. Looking back, Alpha, Legion, and Nemesis were all badass, and all very different. Siege wasn't as good as any of those. There were three major things lacking for me in this book. First is there just wasn't enough involvement from other characters.

The interplay between the team and the feistiness of other characters really help I love MHI, and was really excited to read Siege since it purported to really raise the stakes. The interplay between the team and the feistiness of other characters really help Owen's character shine. Second is there was a little too much luck in the story and not as much genuine character cleverness. I know we're in a world of freaky ultra-powerful supernatural stuff happening, but in past books Alpha and Nemesis in particular the characters had to think their ways out of situations vs.

Third is the characters never really felt in jeopardy, and so the plot felt flat. The climax didn't feel like a climax, if that makes sense. Still, overall enjoyable. It's an MHI book after all. I just hope that the next one picks it back up to the standards of the rest of the series. May 26, Richard rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites. The largest army of monster hunters has been assembled from all over the globe to lay siege to an island crawling with monsters.

In a remote and inhospitable part of the world these courageous men and women journey to rescue some of their number thought lost in Monster Hunter Legion. Correia writes an enjoyable story. One that I hope he is able to continue for many more fun books. In fact, someone needs to option this for a television series!

It feels like a long time since I got to sink my teeth into a Monster Hunter Internal story. Well at least one that takes place in the main story arc that is. I did indeed have rather high expectations on this one and Mr. Correia certainly delivered.

The book continues the story from book five. Hell, at least as far as I remember. The last book was published three years ago and I have to confess that some of the details might have faded in my memory. He also has a secret. Actually in this movie the amount of hardware is overshadowing all the previous books taken together. MHI is going to war! Not only MHI but pretty much the entire monster hunter community…all over the world.

With all this going on the book is a bit different from the previous books. It is on a different scale and although Owen is still the main character, and one crucial for the story, the books is not so much about the MHI team as the other books but rather about good versus evil on a global scale. I have no problem with that. My one gripe about this book is, where the fuck is Frank? Yes, yes, I know he was briefly present in the beginning but I really miss the little altercations between Frank and the MHI team. Overall a great book and it was so good to sink my eyes into a Larry Correia book again.

I really have to say that MHI is one of those series for which I will put nearly anything else down to read. It has everything I could ask for - action, humor Some would even say Then again, what would you expect from someone who's been described as "not a real author"? Can't wait for the next book! This review was first published on Kurt's Frontier. When Asag, a god of chaos, launches a devastating attack on a convention of monster hunters, some hunters are missing in action. They are now being held in a nightmare dimension. The only way to rescue them is through the radioactive ruins of a monster war zone.

MHI does not leave their people behind, and they want payback. Owen Pit must assemble an international team to invade the City of Monsters, and penetrate the nightmare realm that follows no natural rules that humans understand. Review: I did not read the previous volumes of the series, but the story held together well enough that it could stand by itself. Monster Hunter Siege was a fun read that once one got started it was hard to put down. While the action was serious, the story had some lighter, quirky elements. MHI has a network troll. A troll runs their computer network when he can be pried away from Call of Duty.

Orcs act as mercenaries. One orc has an elf girlfriend. Her mother does not approve. Hence, the story is told the way Owen speaks, and I found this to be distracting for an otherwise good book. View 1 comment.

Read Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia

In my opinion it is the best one yet and they have all been good. This one takes place just after the attack on the Monster Hunter convention in Las Vegas where many Hunters were killed and some were lost to the nightmare pocket dimension of the ancient god of chaos, Asag. The Monster Hunters decide it's time to take the battle to the monsters and retrieve their lost people. With the help of Monster Hunter organizations from around the world Owen Pitt and crew decide to lay siege to Asag's realm and stop him once and for all.

This book is a great read in this series and I recommend it. Well Larry Correia went definitively big in this one. Another book from MHI series and another move further in the main story. What I really love about the MHI series is a fact that each book move story further and there are no blank fill ups. Each new entry in the series introduce something new and change the game in rapid way. This time it is just But that's not obstacle for Owen Zastava Pitt.

Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia - WebScription Ebook

This book is mostly about him and he really shines. So for story itself I recommend it. Performance is top-quality too, as usual for Audible, so that's one extra star from me. While in some ways you can say this is a bit of a transitional book, it is still very well written and feels like it is advancing the overall story arc. Though it really does only go so far.

That said, I really enjoyed the story in this one and liked how all the characters developed, and the details about Pitt's family that were unveiled. Book 6 of the series. On the surface, this book is just a fantasy story about protecting earth from monsters, but Larry Correia has a way of weaving in some complex moral puzzles that make you think. The whole Monster Hunter series is an entertaining read, this is no different and you get pretty much what you expect.

Many die hards will no doubt dislike me for saying that I actually preferred some of the earlier books in the series that have explored other characters than the main one, and protagonist on this book, Owen Zastave Pitt - the somewhat unusual mystically 'chosen one' who returns as the main character in this book, and we go back to the main arc of the series. As I said, a very d The whole Monster Hunter series is an entertaining read, this is no different and you get pretty much what you expect.

As I said, a very decent entertaining read, I just didn't think that Correia stretched himself as well with Siege as he has with others. As always so much fun, this book was one of the best to date! Mar 23, Kim Drumeler rated it really liked it. This one had some really parts that were mentally hard to get through. Wow Larry!!
