I am a recovering alcoholic and addict, thankfully 7 years clean now. So I know how important it is to live in the moment, the here and now. It takes some time to master it and of course that goes up and down too, just as life does. I feel so many people miss out on life because of all the stress and things going on. I totally understand what you mean.

Work/life balance and stress management

Sometimes the darkest of times help us to see things much more clearly and appreciate the simple things in life after having been at rock bottom. Your program and cause is such a worthy, priceless project — if only there were more people like you who were just as strong to overcome their addictions and then help others do the same. Hello Holly! Let me start by congratulating your on your website! I am not very informed about self development and motivating, but after a quick walk trough your website, I simply relate with it! Your personal journey is very inspirational. It makes me feel that no matter what anybody is going trough, it is always possible to make a change and have tranquility!

It is good to know that you are there to help through the process! Hi Tiago, I hope you are well and thank you for your lovely comments! I am very glad to hear that you are open to the concept of self development — once you begin the journey, it is so rewarding… you will be amazed by what can be achieved! My goal is to help people better themselves through sharing my experiences and self development journey with them. This is why I am now studying to be a life coach. I have intermittently tried various methods of relaxation exercises and self-meditations and self-hypnosis overthe past two years with mixed results.

Certainly not enough by way of results to keep me doing it. Can you shed some light on this— are these all the same thing by different names? Is there any reason that someone just trying to get into this is better off working on one versus another method? Hi RoxySue, Thank you for your honest feedback — you ask some very good questions! Relaxation exercises are simply that — exercises to help you relax and de-stress using meditation.

Self meditation and self hypnosis are very similar but hypnosis is used for a specific purpose in order to program the unconscious mind i. You can only be hypnotised if you want to be which is why it does not work for some people. Hi Holly, I like your post. I think I need to relax for a while and get some inner piece.

My life has been like a race. Everything around me move very fast, and I have to cope up. By the end of the week I am always exhausted. I will try your method Thank for the insight. Best Regards, Michael Angelo.

Thanks so much for this wonderful post about inner peace.

I have a note by my front door to remind me that peace of mind is my highest priority. I have to have a reminder because typically I get caught up in doing stuff and pushing to reach goals and forget all about peace of mind. That is such a good idea! It works really well with affirmations too!

Keep reading that, writing it and saying it and your subconscious will soon get the message. Hi Holly, Just thinking about it, what would you say are the things that cause people most anxiety? One thing will cause a person to be worried sick but the very same thing or situation will be laughed off by another.

Or is it in the hands of someone higher and greater than mankind? Hi Boniface and welcome back to thinktranquility. When I meditate I will always try to focus on each body part and then tense and release it. I always remember myself that my body is only a vessel and that thoughts are not real. This way when stress or anxiety comes, I will quickly release it.

Yes that is such a good way of looking at it! Our bodies are like vessels and are completely receptive to whatever we tell and program it with. I have to say that your post really got me thinking. I like to do a form of mantra meditation in the morning, where I silently repeat a sound in my mind. Later in the day, I like to do mindfulness, where I walk around outside and fully engage with my senses. Wow — this sounds really interesting.
